Wheeling, VA: David and M'Carty, First published in 1824, this is apparently the second printing, 1825. Small 8vo, leather backed papercovered boards, 156 pp. Good copy, spine solid, boards firmly attached, but moderate to heavy rubbing and wear to boards, corners rounded, lacks a good deal of paper covering to the original boards, contents good to very good, both endpapers and outer leaves used to practice handwriting from its earliest owners who apparently include a Lucinda Buckingham (1837) and David Peck (1830). Contents have also had their outer corners cut/trimmed slightly. The original edition of 1824 had a frontispiece portrait, but this second printing is 4 pp longer and issued without frontispiece (no mention of it in OCLC). A good complete copy of a RARE volume on Lafayette. Not in Howes. Good.
