London: Macmillan, 1882. Book is a First Edition, hardcover, pictorial onlay, illustrated throughout in color by George Cruikshank. Very Good. Light fading and shelfwear to the boards; clean interior. More importantly, this book comes with a laid-in manuscript (6.25 x 9 inches) with small sketches and writing in pencil and ink by George Cruikshank, who has also signed his name once on each side. Soft crease down the middle. Book and manuscript housed in blue cloth chemise with quarter-leather slipcase with sunning to the spine. The manuscript is undated. One of the small sketches shows a group of three men in movement with a hat appearing to fall off one man's head; a similar image appears on page 31 of the book, and this perhaps explains why the this manuscript and book were paired together. Very Good.
