Washington DC: Typed Letter Signed, Typed Letter Signed, from Ambrose Bierce to his publisher, Walter Neale, dated July 2, 1909. Single sheet, measures 6.5 x 8 inches. 12 line letter, including a row of Yankee soldiers that Bierce, a Union veteran, included to poke fun at Neale, who also published books about the Confederacy. Includes a wonderful line about Bierce's writing process, "I do my work nude, with my fan turned on me, full power." Very Good. Folded twice. Two small adhesive stains on the blank side are still a bit sticky and the shadows show through to the front. Neale published a biography of Bierce in 1929. Very Good.
