Warmly inscribed by Western scholar and enthusiast E. A. Brininstool to his good friend L. H. Spragle: "To the best old Pal in the world, from a fellow who knows. [signed]...". Earl Alonzo Brininstool (1870-1957) was a cowboy poet and prolific author on the subject of Indian Wars, especially Gen. Custer and the Battle of the Little Big Horn. Brininstool maintained an extensive correspondence with notable figures of the battle, and compiled the stories of many survivors of the Reno command. He is best known for his books Trail Dust of a Maverick (1914), Bozeman Trail (192 2) and A Trooper with Custer (1925). Contents are otherwise clean and unmarked. Rare.
